Our Coaches

  • RanDee Ochinero

RanDee Ochinero, known by many players as Coach Och, is the driving force behind Core Volleyball Academy. As the founder, she is dedicated to providing top-notch training and development for volleyball players of all ages and genders.

RanDee’s playing career includes being a 3 year varsity starter at a 4A school in Wyoming as a right side hitter and 2 years of junior college, playing every position. With nearly 20 years of coaching experience, RanDee has worn many hats, including college assistant, a high school head coach, program director, and club coach for both USAV and AAU in Montana and Wyoming. Ochinero's coaching career began as a camp clinician, working under former ISU head coach Chad Tiechert at the Chad Tiechert Volleyball Camps where she helped organize and run four-day camps for 12-60 athletes. Coach Och served as the head coach at Lockwood from 2015 to 2021 and was a key part in the addition of the new high school program.

RanDee also served on the staff that led the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears to a Conference Tournament victory and a run at the National Tournament in the 2022 season.

We highly recommend RanDee for foundational skill work for any age, right side hitters, any blockers and girls hoping to play at the collegiate level.

  • Amanda Ganette

Amanda started her volleyball career at Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy in Beaverton, OR where she played for 8 years. She then continued her collegiate volleyball journey at Seattle Pacific University where she was the starting libero and was able to set the #2 school records for digs. Amanda has extensive defensive training and coaching experience with players of all ages, particularly those in middle and high school. She also has hosted several clinics, recruiting seminars, and personalized conditioning sessions, in addition to coaching her own 12U club team, and is excited to share her expertise with the Billings volleyball community.

Amanda currently attends PA school at Rocky Mountain College and enjoys traveling, finding the next best coffee shop, and spending time with her two ragdoll kitties - Bindi and Bentley.

We highly recommend Amanda for anyone interested in becoming a better libero or backrow player at any age!

  • Daphne Boyd

Hi! My name is Daphne and I am a coach here at Core Academy. I am from Las Vegas, Nevada and have lived in Billings since 2020. I am finishing my degree in Biology at Rocky Mountain College. I played volleyball for 13 years. All the way from recreation league to college. Volleyball is my passion and I cannot wait to spread the love of this amazing sport all around this wonderful community."

We highly recommend Coach Daphne for our undersized hitters (She played outside hitter at 5'7!) and boys volleyball players!

  • Dawn Hedstrom

If you've been around club volleyball at the high school level, you've probably seen Coach Dawn and her teams!

Dawn was born and raised in northern New Mexico. She played middle blocker in high school, then transitioned to a defensive specialist at the University of New Mexico. Dawn has coached for over 30+ years and has been coaching with

Rimrock Volleyball Club for several years now. Dawn still travels the country playing in volleyball tournaments. Beyond volleyball, Dawn enjoys the outdoors, is happily married and has two adult sons who reside in Colorado. She also works full-time as a nurse.

Dawn is great for all positions and ages but we highly recommend Dawn for our high school girls!

  • Kelsey Sargent

I have been in and around volleyball since I was 4-years-old, and my passion for it has never wavered in the last two decades. I am Senior High alumni, part of the 2018 graduating class. At Senior, I was a part of two state championship teams. After high school, I played at Carroll College. I have been coaching since I was 17 for various camps/clinics in the Billings and surrounding areas, as well as Montana Juniors Volleyball Club. I have played all positions, from Middle to Outside to Setter to Libero; and being well-rounded means I have confidence in coaching each area of volleyball. Today, I coach at Senior High and Montana Juniors Volleyball Club. I am very excited to be a part of Core and extend the possibility of getting better to anybody, any time!"

Coach Kelsey is currently taking 4-12th graders of any position for lessons!
